Originality is what we’re about: Enjoy a soak in a Japanese style bath tub (vintage wine glass in hand), a movie from the comfort of a bespoke sofa, or just watch the red squirrels from the garden hammock, whilst listening to our rare vinyl collection. Offering exceptional seclusion and privacy with stunning views of the lake and open fields, this acclaimed contemporary house is still just a ten minute walk from a characterful local pub and the shores of Lake Windermere, where a wild swim can be enjoyed. As well as being a ground-breaking, sustainably constructed home, clad in larch timber grown just one mile away, the Shack’s interior is finished and maintained to an impeccably high specification – furnished with the best kitchen and home entertainment appliances, many vintage / design classics and bespoke art and crafts.
Since 2009, The Love Shack has been managed by us, Karen & Adam (film maker / artist & curator respectively) – the same people who poured our hearts into building this extraordinary house on a magical plot we found in 2003. We don’t use letting agencies or casual / underpaid staff. We know best what our guests need, and assisted by our dedicated housekeeper, we are proud to offer holidays so wonderful that two out of three of our guests return year on year to enjoy the tranquility and architectural beauty of this award-winning gem of a house.
But don’t just take our word for it. The likes of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Conde Naste World Traveller, The Guardian, Wallpaper and The Sunday Times have all sung the praises of The Love Shack. The house has now inspired a fair few imitations locally, and we’re very flattered. But no off-the-peg wooden cabin at the bottom of a garden can compare to the real thing.
SWOON. This place is even more beautiful than in the photos. It’s like a mini Frank Lloyd Wright! We never want to leave.
